A press conference was held on the sidelines of the opening of the Republic Summer Mini Handball Championship – 35th edition
The announcement of the start of the tournament came during a major press conference attended by Dr. Safaa Sharif, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, representing the Minister of Youth and Sports, Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy, and Professor Khaled Fathy, President of the Egyptian Handball Federation, in addition to the heads of the participating clubs and members of the Federation's Board of Directors.
The conference reviewed details about the tournament and stressed its great value in creating new generations of game champions.
Dr. Safaa Sharif stressed that this tournament comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Youth and Sports to support young people, provide the opportunity to practice sports and compete, and enhance teamwork.
She pointed out that handball enjoys a prestigious position regionally and internationally, and that the tournament reflects the Egyptian state's vision towards investing in the energies of its people and preparing generations capable of raising Egypt's flag in various forums.
It also conveyed the greetings of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, and his wishes for the success of the tournament.
For his part, Professor Khaled Fathi thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for its continued support, and the Arab Academy for its fruitful cooperation and distinguished organization.
He explained that the Egyptian Handball Federation seeks, by organizing such tournaments, to discover and refine young talents, stressing that "competition creates champions".
For his part, Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag welcomed the attendees, stressing that the tournament is not just a sports competition, but rather "a renewed message that reflects the interest and care that the Egyptian state attaches to sports and youth, under the wise leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi".
He stressed that the Arab Academy is proud to be an active partner in all initiatives aimed at serving the nation's youth and developing their skills.
He pointed out that sports are no longer just a means of entertainment, but have become a fundamental pillar in building an integrated personality capable of creativity and challenge.
He concluded his speech by recommending to the participants the necessity of showing sportsmanship and morals before skill, and he hoped that the tournament would be the beginning of more achievements that would raise Egypt's name high
As part of the press conference activities and in a gesture of appreciation and pride, we witnessed a special honoring by the Egyptian Handball Federation of a group of legends of the game in the city of Alexandria in appreciation of their great role in contributing to raising Egyptian handball.

The first day of the tournament witnessed strong and fierce competition between all participating teams, and many promising talents emerged that are being closely monitored during the upcoming matches to achieve the main goal of the tournament, which is to discover, develop, nurture and prepare talents to support Egyptian handball teams of different age groups, which contributes to preparing future handball champions to represent teams in international forums and win championships and titles.
