Assessment Strategy

Assessment Strategy

Students are assessed continuously throughout the semester via written, practical, and oral exams, papers, assignments, participation in class discussions and course attendance, along with other evaluation methods.

The final grade of each course has the following components:

· 30% of the student's total mark for the semester will be based on their assessment during the first 7 weeks. The 7th-week grade is announced by the end of week 8.

· 20% of the student's total mark for the semester will be based on their assessment from week 8 to week 12. The 12th-week grade is announced by the end of week 13.

· 10% of the student's total mark for the semester will be based on coursework and is announced before the final assessment.

· 40% of the student's total mark for the semester will be based on the course’s final assessment.

Grade Appeal

It is the student’s right to view all assessed material after grading and in accordance with the Quality Assurance Regulations as follows:

Continuous Assessments Material: It is the student’s full responsibility to view their assessed coursework, and they have the right to refer to the lecturer for any grade appeals before the start of the final exams. Appeals to review coursework marks will not be accepted after the course's final grade is announced.

Final Assessments: The student has the right to submit an appeal through the student portal within two weeks of the announcement of the final results if they wish to have their final assessment regraded or reviewed.

Course Grades

Students receive a letter grade for each registered course based on the percentage of marks they achieve in the course, according to the grading scale for each college.

Students who have a valid compelling excuse that is accepted by the college may postpone their final assessment, provided they have scored no less than 36 marks (60%) of the total semester work marks. The student will receive an incomplete grade (I) and will sit for the final assessment no later than the first week of the next main semester. If the student does not sit for the final assessment by then, their course grade will be changed to Fail (F).
