This course is designed for students who are interested in improving their academic reading skills. The course draws upon a variety of texts to develop the students’ academic reading skills. The texts cover different topics related to such fields as education, religion, politics and media, health and medicine, society and social issues, business and literature. The course provides training and practice in the following: reading strategies, sharing of information ing and reading informative and literary texts and increasing the students’ self-confidence as skilled and critical readers. The course focuses on the development and application of reading skills in the interpretation, analysis and criticism of the concepts that the students come across in academic reading. It also expands the students’ vocabulary and enhances their critical reading and thinking skills.
