“Beyond Plastic” Seminar – CLC
The College of Language and Communication on 13 January 2022 hosted ‘Beyond Plastic’ seminar on the dangers of single-use plastics and environmentally friendly alternatives which was conducted by Prof. Ahmed Abu Kandil, Professor of Materials and Polymer Science at the National Calibration Institute at Cairo University. The seminar aimed to raise awareness about the importance of reducing the excessive use of single-use plastics and the consequences of various environmental aspects (air, water, soil and food) that threaten our planet.
Plastic Waste Collecting Campaign
Under the ‘Go Green’ initiative that is launched by the Egyptian Ministry of Environment, the College of Language and Communication in Alexandria headquarters on 11th February, 2022 launched a campaign to collect plastic waste from Miami (the area surrounding the Academy's headquarters) in preparation for its safe disposal.
A visit to a solid waste recycling plant
The College of Language and Communication arranged a visit to the solid waste recycling plant in Port Said on 24 February 2022.The visit aimed to introduce the students to the steps for the safe disposal of waste, especially plastic, to ensure the safety of the environment and human health, in order to urge students and the community to separate garbage and contribute to the safe recycling of plastic waste.
Awareness Campaign
The Environment unit at the College of Language and Communication has launched in February 2022 the “Haylef We Yergaalak” campaign, which is a student campaign that aims to create a clean and safe environment free of plastic and to raise awareness inside and outside the university campus about the dangers of plastic and encourage limiting its use and finding other environmentally friendly alternatives.
Participation in the exhibition of student projects and activities in the field of environment
Under the Global Climate Conference COP 27 in Sharm El-Sheikh, the College of Language and Communication in in Alexandria participated on Tuesday, March 15 in the exhibition of student projects in the field of environment, which was held as a part of the Arab Youth Green Venture project.
CLC Green Day
Under “Haylef We Yergaalak” campaign, the College of Language and Communication organized the CLC Green Day. It included several activities that aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of single-use plastic. Samples of students' study projects in the same field were also presented. The event also included environmentally friendly recreational activities (such as painting on canvas bags, planting in plastic bottles, and other environmentally friendly games). A group of experts in this field also gave speeches about the damages that single-use plastic causes to the environment.
Graduation Projects 2022
The graduation projects of the Language and Translation department in CLC revolved around the issue of the environment and plastic pollution. The projects mainly tackled the danger of the excessive use of single-use plastic. In addition, one of the groups launched an awareness campaign called “Dawwarha Fi Demaghak”.
