Program Description

The Humanities Department at the College of Language and Communication serves as the foundation year, equipping students with a multidisciplinary academic framework essential for advanced studies in language and media. The programme integrates theoretical and practical knowledge across various domains, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication. Students engage with core disciplines, including Introduction to Mass Communication, Listening, Writing, Social Psychology, Drama, Translation, Introduction to Radio and Television, Introduction to Literary Texts, Theatre, and Phonetics. These courses provide a comprehensive grounding in linguistic proficiency, media literacy, cultural awareness, and social cognition. By the end of the programme, students develop a well-rounded intellectual foundation, preparing them for specialized pathways in language, media, and communication studies.

Learning Outcomes

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the undergraduate programme at the College of Language and Communication, applicants must fulfill the following criteria: • Possession of a High School Certificate or an equivalent qualification recognized by the relevant authorities. • Attainment of the minimum required score for admission, as determined and announced prior to the commencement of each academic semester. • For male Egyptian applicants, official documentation of the applicant’s military conscription status must be provided in accordance with national regulations. • Completion of the English placement test, which is a mandatory prerequisite for enrollment in all majors offered by the Arab Academy.

Tests & Prerequisites

• Applicants to the College of Language and Communication must achieve a minimum score of 25 points on the English Placement Test to qualify for direct enrollment in the standard curriculum. Candidates who score below this threshold will be required to enroll in the Remedial English course as a prerequisite, replacing the core Introduction to Literary Texts course until the required proficiency level is attained.

These courses furnish the necessary base required for any student seeking to establish a career in the fields of media, and language and translation.
