Celebrating the Launch of the First Scientific Journal for the Colleges of Language and Communication at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology Science,
and Maritime Transport
Under the auspices of his Excellency Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, Prof. Alaa Abdel Bary, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Prof. Yasser Gaber, Dean of Scientific Research and Innovation, the colleges of Language and Communication celebrated the launch of its first scientific journal entitled ‘Insights into Language, Culture and Communication’ on Monday the 7th of March, from the headquarters of the new city El Alamein as its first issue was published in December 2021.
The celebration was moderated by Prof. Abeer Refky, Dean of the College of Language and Communication at the headquarters (Alexandria), who began her speech by talking about the purpose and nature of the journal, as the journal is concerned with publishing scientific research and case studies in the fields of humanities and social sciences, including linguistics, literary studies, cultural studies, media studies, visual arts and heritage studies and political sciences. The journal also supports interdisciplinary studies that would open new horizons for scientific research.
Professor Charles Forceville, the prominent professor at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, attended the celebration and discussed the significance of the title of the journal, which conveys the interdisciplinary relation between a number of different disciplines. In addition, a number of the staff members of the Colleges of Language and Communication at the Arab Academy attended the celebration, headed by Prof. Samy Taie, Consultant of Language and Communication Affairs, Prof. Hanan Youssef, Dean of the College of Language and Communication in Smart Village, and Prof. Laila Al-Saeed, member of the magazine’s advisory and honorary council as well as members of the editorial board: Dr. Muhammad Al-Nashar, Dean of the College of Language and Communication at Heliopolis, and Dr. Inas Hussein, Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research at the College of Language and Communication in Alexandria, Dr. Rania Magdy, Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and Head of the Languages Department at the college of Language and communication in Heliopolis, and Dr. Reham El Shazly, Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics and Head of the Language and Translation Department at the College of Language and Communication in Heliopolis, in addition to Dr. Nashwi Al Yamany, Associate Professor of Applied Linguistics at the College of Language and Communication in Smart Village.
His Excellency the President of the Academy stated that this scientific journal is a breakthrough in the world of scientific research, which is one of the main areas that the Academy focuses on through the Deanery of Scientific Research. It is also worth mentioning that this journal seeks to be internationally categorized, so as to encourage researchers to spread thought and rely on humanities and social sciences that contribute to the formation of one’s self, human thought and facilitate communication between peoples, cultures and civilisations.
