Objectives

• This course provides an opportunity for students to apply and integrate what they have learnt in previous translation courses, as well as to optimize their translation skills. Making use of their knowledge of translation theory and practice, students are required to work on a literary translation project, either from Arabic into English or vice versa. Through teamwork, this course will further hone students’ skills in handling translation difficulties, including culture-specific items, cultural gaps, collocations, redundancies, repetitions and sentence length. Students will also be asked to give critical feedback on their translation work.
