Program Description

The **Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Control Engineering** is a four-year program comprising **144 credit hours over eight academic semesters**. It prepares graduates to plan, design, analyse, install, operate, and maintain electrical power and control systems. The program combines a foundation in mathematics, physical sciences, computing, and engineering principles with specialised knowledge in electrical circuits, electronics, power systems, electrical machines, power electronics, instrumentation, and automatic control. Students develop skills in electrical power generation, transmission, distribution, and protection, alongside the operation and control of motors and electric drives. The curriculum also covers embedded control systems, programmable logic controllers, and industrial automation, enabling students to understand how electrical and digital technologies are integrated into practical engineering applications. The program offers four optional concentrations: **Smart Automation, Power and Machines, Energy, and Electric Vehicles**. These allow students to explore areas such as robotics and artificial intelligence in control, advanced power systems, renewable energy and energy storage, energy efficiency, electric vehicle drives, and charging technologies. Students pursuing a concentration complete the relevant elective courses and a graduation project in the same field. Laboratory activities, two stages of practical training, and a two-part graduation project connect theoretical learning with practical engineering experience. The program also develops problem-solving, teamwork, communication, professional ethics, and project management skills, preparing graduates for professional practice, continued learning, and postgraduate study.

Learning Outcomes

  • Graduates of the Electrical and control Engineering program are expected to acquire a range of competencies at different levels. This includes: (A) General Engineering Competencies; (B) Specialized Program Competencies. Details are shown as follows: B1 Select, model and analyze electrical power systems applicable to the specific discipline by applying the concepts of generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power systems. B2 Design, model and analyze an electrical/electronic/ digital system or component for a specific application; and identify the tools required to optimize this design. B3 Design and implement elements, modules, subsystems or systems in electrical/electronic/digital engineering using technological and professional tools. B4 Estimate and measure the performance of an electrical/ electronic/digital system and circuit under specific input excitation and evaluate its suitability for a specific application. B5 Adopt suitable national and international standards and codes to design, build, operate, inspect and maintain electrical/ electronic/digital equipment, systems and services
