Description

The course covers complexometric titrations and oxidation-reduction titrations (electrical properties of redox systems, Nernst equation, factors affecting oxidation potential, redox titration curves, pharmaceutical application on redox reaction), electrochemistry (potentiometry, conductometry and polarography).

Objectives

  • By the end of the course, the students should be able to: a1- Explain bases for complexation, redox and their titration conditions. a2- Understand the concept of electrochemistry and conductometry. Intellectual Skills By the end of the course, the students should be able to: b1- Differentiate between the conditions of different types of titration. b2- Calculate electrode potential of different cells. Professional and Practical skills By the end of the course, the students should be able to: c1- Gather and integrate information relevant to the complexation and redox reactions. c2- Master practical skills concerning operation of different voltaic cells and electrodes. c3- Discuss and evaluate different calculations. General and Transferable skills By the end of the course, the students should be able to: d1 -Develop skills of identifying different types of titrations. d2- Perfectly communicate with others in team work during lab work and group assignments
