Description

This course provides a broad anatomical background of the different organ systems of the human body. Students will be exposed to models of the skeleton and joints, cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urogenital, nervous and endocrine systems. Basic correlation/relevance of the structure and of each structure will be provided. In addition, it provides an outline of the fine structure of different types of tissues in the human body. Details about epithelium, connective tissue, blood, cartilage, muscular tissue, nervous tissue, lymphatic system and the digestive tract are provided. The histological structure of each organ will be discussed in the context of function

Objectives

  • Domain (1): Fundamental knowledge 1.1- Identify the anatomical position and anatomical terms of the human body. 1.2- Describe the different movements of the joints. 1.3- Outline the main parts of the different body systems and the parts and relations of each organ. 1.4- Describe the surface anatomy and histology of organ and make a link with clinical practice. 1.5- Identify the main applied anatomy & histology of each system. 1.6Correlate between clinical problems and parts of the body systems Domain (2): Professional and Ethical Practice At the end of the course the student should be able to: 2.1- Carry out normal values and dimensions of the body organs & tissues. 2.2 Analyze different symptoms of patients. Domain (3): Pharmaceutical Care At the end of the course the student should be able to: 3.1 Apply clinical problems and how to solve it. Domain (4): Personal Practice 4.1- Maintain a professional interpersonal relationships. 4.2-Develop skills of independent learning as tested by writing an essay for different topics in anatomy.
