Student Outcomes (1 7)

The Student Outcomes Performance Indicators

The program must prepare graduates to attain the ability to:

  1. Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
    • The ability to formulate the problem, identify the needed facts of science, engineering and mathematics and determine key issues and/or variables
    • The ability to apply theoretical concepts to solve complex realworld problems
  2. Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
    • An ability to follow system development phases, and meet the requirements and constraints
    • The ability to create an appropriate design solution in a safe, healthy and ethical manner
  3. Communicate effectively with a range of audiences
    • The ability to exhibit good presentation skills, show appropriate use of visual illustrations to present and relay information
    • The ability to logically organize the material, adequately structure the data, and properly document references
  4. Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
    • Understanding the required ethical and professional standards and their importance
    • Identify the global, economic, environmental, and societal context of an engineering problem.
  5. Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
    • The ability to take responsibility, and be fully involved in multidisciplinary team
    • Contributes a fair share to the project planning, management and workload
  6. Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
    • The ability to design and conduct the experiments through the appropriate procedure (tools, hardware, software, emulation, simulation or hybrid)
    • The ability to analyze and interpret the data
  7. Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
    • The ability to acquire the information needed
    • The ability to critically evaluate the information
