Marine and Offshore Engineering

Why Marine Engineering in AASTMT

In the Department of Marine and Offshore Engineering at the Arab Academy for Science Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT), you will embark on an enriching academic journey that spans across the thrilling domains of marine engineering, offshore engineering, shipbuilding, ship repair engineering, and oil and gas engineering. Your study will be enhanced by our comprehensive facilities, including well-equipped laboratories for internal combustion engines and diesel engines, various computer labs, and state-of-the-art computer software for simulation and analysis. Additionally, you will have the privilege of accessing our integrated marine simulator complex facility.

Your final year of study will be particularly exciting as you choose to specialize in one of three paths: Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or Ocean Engineering. Each path offers a distinctive curriculum and sets of skills, preparing you for diverse job opportunities in the maritime market.

Marine Engineering focuses on the design, construction, installation, and operation of machinery and propulsion systems for ships and marine structures. Offshore Engineering encompasses activities from oil and gas exploration and extraction, telecoms and power cabling, to renewable energy supply. Ocean Engineering, a rapidly growing field, involves the design and implementation of structures and systems that harness the potential of oceans and other bodies of water.

Your education at AASTMT will not only fulfill the requirements of the STCW Convention, as amended in 2010, but also equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in a competitive global maritime industry. With a low student to faculty ratio, you will enjoy close working relationships with our esteemed faculty, ensuring a rich, personalized learning experience.
