    History

    Mechanical Engineering Program (ME)

The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 1993 and offers a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering since September 1998. The program was accredited by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities (SCU) on August 27th, 1996. The accreditation was renewed on 2002, 2007, and 2012. The program was accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on 2005 and renewed on 2010. In addition, the program was accredited by the American Board of Engineering and Technology on 2010 and by The National Authority for Quality Assurance & Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE) on 2014.

Major changes have been conducted to the ME program in 2002 and 2007. These changes were focusing on redesigning the offered courses. Practical training was added as a graduation requirement starting 2007 graduation class. The senior graduation project (final year project) was modified from six credit hours to nine credit hours representing 5% of total credit hours required for graduation.
