On completion of this course, students will be able to: Explain the difference between consecutive interpretation and simultaneous interpretation Identify general features of consecutive interpretation. Identify the procedure and etiquette of consecutive interpretation Apply note taking techniques. Apply note reading techniques. Recall the gist of every chunk of sentences uttered by a speaker. Apply memory building exercises. Break down complicated structures to simple ones. Paraphrase the speaker’s words in the target language. Categorize notes. Combine note taking techniques. Prepare terms before starting the translation. Predict field related terminology. Develop memory building exercises. Formulate new structures that deliver the meaning intended to be communicated by original speaker. Recognize the different contexts where consecutive translation can be used.
