Bachelor of Arts in Media – College of Language and Communication

Upon successful completion of the BA in Media, all graduates will have demonstrated a defined set of competencies that reflect both disciplinary knowledge and professional practice.


1. Core Programme-Level Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:

  •  Upon successful completion of the bachelor’s degree in media, all graduates will have demonstrated a defined set of competencies reflecting both disciplinary knowledge and professional practice. Graduates will be able to: 

    a.1 Critically evaluate deep theoretical mastery of media and communication studies by engaging with key concepts, debates, and intellectual paradigms aligned with global standards. 

    a.2 Apply advanced research and analytical skills to identify, investigate, and critically evaluate complex media issues through appropriate qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods .

    a.3 Create professional-quality content across print, audio, visual, and digital platforms and formats, including print, audio, visual, and digital by integrating both creative vision with technical proficiency.

    a.4 Adhere to ethical, legal, and regulatory frameworks governing media production and dissemination to ensure integrity, fairness, privacy protection and intellectual property compliance. 

    a.5 Employ strong bilingual and intercultural communication abilities effectively in written, oral, and visual forms to express ideas persuasively and engage diverse global audiences across academic and professional media contexts. 

    a.6 Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams by showing leadership, entrepreneurial, adaptability and continuous learning in response to evolving technologies and media industry trends.

Examples of expected graduate abilities:

  • Research, evaluate, and synthesize information to solve media-related problems using appropriate methods.

  • Conceptualise, design, and produce media products for target audiences using suitable channels, combining creative and analytical skills.

These outcomes align with EQF Level 6 descriptors, ensuring both advanced theoretical knowledge and practical competences required for bachelor-level qualifications.


2. Major-Specific Outcomes

A. Radio & Television Production

Graduates will be able to:

b.1 Radio & Television Major

  • b.1.1. Demonstrate comprehensive mastery of broadcasting foundations by analysing the evolution of the radio and television industry across traditional, digital, and immersive platforms; recognising the impact of emerging technologies (streaming, podcasting, and AI) and sociocultural contexts; and consistently applying ethical, legal, and responsible media practices.
  • b.1.2. Apply analytical research skills, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving to assess, develop, and enhance broadcast content; manage end-to-end production processes; and design user-centred, data-informed narratives that leverage emerging technologies to engage diverse audiences and reflect global media trends.
  • b.1.3. Proficiently operate professional production tools, technologies, and workflows while collaborating in diverse and dynamic team environments; demonstrating strong communication, adaptability, leadership, and resource management; and producing a professional, multi-platform media portfolio that reflects contemporary industry standards.

B. Digital Media

Graduates will be able to:

  • b.2.1 Demonstrate advanced mastery of digital media principles by understanding audience engagement, visual design UX UI, cross-platform storytelling, ethical and legal frameworks, data privacy, and intellectual property, as well as the sociocultural factors that shape online communication and content consumption.
  • b.2.2. Apply analytical, creative, and technical capabilities to evaluate digital trends, adopt emerging technologies, solve production challenges, and design user- centred digital experiences using professional tools.
  • b.2.3 Execute and manage comprehensive digital projects from concept to delivery by coordinating multidisciplinary teams, producing targeted cross-platform content, building a professional portfolio, communicating effectively with diverse audiences, adapting to continuous technological change, and meeting deadlines in dynamic online environments.
  • Achievement of these outcomes will be evidenced through professional portfolios, research projects, media production, usability evaluations, and applied industry-based assessments.

3. Minor-Specific Outcomes

The BA in Media programme offers five minors, each with distinct learning outcomes:

1. Dubbing & Subtitling

  • Translate scripts for audiovisual content and adapt dialogue for cultural relevance.

  • Implement dubbing techniques using specialised software.

  • Master timing and synchronisation for subtitling with both linguistic and technical accuracy.

2. Radio & Television Announcing

  • Master vocal delivery, on-air presentation, and live reporting techniques.

  • Operate studio equipment and teleprompting tools.

  • Deliver scripts confidently while following broadcasting ethics.

3. Digital Journalism

  • Produce online news content integrating text, images, video, and data visualisations.

  • Apply journalistic standards of accuracy, impartiality, and storytelling.

  • Engage effectively with audiences through social media.

4. Digital Advertising

  • Plan and execute digital campaigns using audience analysis and content creation.

  • Use advertising platforms and analytics tools to optimise performance.

  • Understand online consumer behaviour for better targeting.

5. Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC)

  • Coordinate advertising, PR, and social media into unified campaigns.

  • Conduct market research and craft strategic brand messaging.

  • Integrate media strategies across multiple platforms.
