MBA Rules and Regulation - Thesis Development Regulations

Students who to develop a thesis as part of their MBA degree requirements must satisfy the following obligations:

  1. Academic MBA students must fulfill the following:
    • Attainment of at least 300 on the MBA Admission Test.
    • Earning the credits of 10 courses (30 credit hours).
    • Attainment of a GPA of at least 3.5 out of 4.0
  2. Students who fulfill all the previous requirements are assigned an academic supervisor to assist them in developing the Thesis Proposal.
  3. For April graduates, the deadline for submitting the Thesis Proposal is December 15th and March 15th for completing the thesis.
  4. For October graduates, the deadline for submitting the Thesis Proposal is May 15th and September 15th for completing the thesis.
  5. Students should submit 3 copies of the proposal– bearing the supervisor''s signature- to the Dean''s Office for formal registration of the Thesis Proposal.
  6. The AAGSB Academic Committee will review the proposal, and upon approval the thesis is formally registered.
  7. The academic supervisor will schedule meetings to supervise the student, assign readings and follow up with the student while developing his/her theses.
  8. Students should submit three copies of the thesis bearing the supervisor''s signature prior to the allocated deadline to nominate the members of the Defense Committee from the Dean''s office.
  9. On discussing and approving the thesis, the student should submit 6 copies of the final version to AAGSB for the purpose of granting the degree.
  10. A student who have not finished their thesis by the fourth semester is allowed an additional semester without paying any fees. Failure to finish the theses within the fifth semester will result in the student registering 6 credit hours in the sixth semester and paying the equivalent tuition fees.
  11. Thesis in Progress will be recorded on the student''s transcript if the Thesis Development Phase extends to additional semester(s).
  12. In writing the thesis, students should adhere to the following guidelines:
    • Relevance: The ed topic should be relevant to the field of study
    • Interest: The ed topic should be interesting to the student and directly related to his/her career interests and plans.
    • Feasibility: The ed topic should neither be too broad and vague nor too narrow and specialized.
    • Requirements and Assessment: The thesis study is an individual assignment. Students are expected to submit a paper of a maximum 150 pages (excluding the cover page, the table of contents, the executive summary, the bibliography and the appendices, in which they will present their findings and analysis.
    • Orientation: The study is a research-oriented activity during which the student is required to formulate the research objectives and adopt the appropriate research techniques in sampling, data collection and analysis in order to present his/her analytical skills.
    • Guidelines for the Study Format: The final paper should be presented in an organized and concise manner. It should include the following parts in the following order:
      • Part I: The cover page
      • Part II: Table of contents
      • Part III: Executive summary
      • Part IV: The main body which covers the following:
        • Introduction
        • Subject core including research methodology
        • Main findings and conclusions
        • Recommendations
      • Part V: Bibliography
      • Part VI: Appendices
  13. Students should submit 3 copies of the thesis bearing the supervisor''s signature to Dean''s office prior to the allocated deadline.
