This course aims to explain how energy storage systems operate and how these can be used to deal with the variable nature of the demand and supply on the grid in particular due to the intermittent nature of renewable electrical energy sources.

  • The student should be able to:  Understand the different energy storage systems in terms of their operation, sizing, and limitations in terms of storage capacity and time frame.  Apply fundamental concepts to solve problems based on calculation of storage capacity and conversion efficiencies.
