This course introduces the study of interior design within historical and theoretical contexts. Looking at Western Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The course explores the production and consumption of domestic and public interior space and to engage with theoretical approaches to material culture and the designed object.

• The aim of the course is to encourage students to engage with historic and represented interiors at every opportunity. It also aims to explore the production and consumption of domestic and public interior space and to engage with theoretical approaches to interiors and material culture in the twentieth century.
