The program introduces students to the advanced theoretical and scientific bases and enables them to acquire professional competency which meets future needs and job opportunities in Egypt and abroad. The program has been carefully designed and continuously updated according to the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt (SCU). Further improvements have been introduced to the program to match the recommendations by National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Education (NAQAAE), and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) so as to meet the requirements for accreditation by those institutes. OVERVIEW:
The Architectural Engieering and Environmental Design Department offers a doctoral degree in Architectural Engieering and Environmental Design with four different fields. The fields of architecture, interior architecture, Urban Planning and urban design, and finally building technology. Each specialization is fitted with a number of tailored elective courses that prepare the researcher for their role in knowledge development and progress.
During five years of study, the program terminates in a scientific thesis that contributes to knowledge and forms a high quality research. Our graduate is well prepared for post-doctorate studies and has unique scientific skills that makes them able to help in the development of solutions for built-environment related problems either on theoretical or practical levels.
The Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design Department has a strong history of practice-oriented education that has expanded to include in depth issues of environmental design and built environment. The proposed PhD program focuses on the role of researchers in the different fields of architecture to contribute to the development of society and culture. The department also focuses on studies that deal with the required development of architecture, and the Egyptian cities, with great concern to the regional and global problems.

The Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design Department has a vision of creating a group of specialized researchers that are well equipped to formulate and define the socital problems and can derive the change needed locally, regionally as well as the internationally. For this, we endeavor to create competitive graduates that can contribute to international debates, and scientific development.

The Architectural Engineering and Environmental Design Department Is determined to provide high quality rigorous guidance to its researchers with the aim of creating self-developing scientists that are able to respond to the different issues facing the community and who have the skills needed to derive the change needed in the different fields of architecture in Egypt, the region and the world.
