Description
Introduction: The importance of collaboration – The nature of enquiry; positivism versus social constructionism – Problem-solving; well-defined, ill-defined and wicked problems – Languages used in the building industry – Using building simulation to inform architects’ design decision-making – Translating simulation outputs into building design decision – Building integrated modeling (BIM), interoperability and information transfer.
Program
M.Sc. in Architectural Engineering and Environemental Design
Objectives
- An energy-efficient building project is never a uni-disciplinary endeavor. Engineers, energy consultants and architects, each of whom emerge from diverse educational and experiential backgrounds, converge onto a single platform to integrate renewable energies into building designs. The aim of this course is to provide students with an awareness of the importance of fluid collaboration and effective communication amongst different design professionals, to be able to work together. In this course, students will come face-to-face with the challenges and opportunities inherent in inter-disciplinary collaborations, for energy-efficiencies, that occur in every day practice.
