Electromagnetic waves: light, properties, reflection, refraction, dispersion, diffraction, plane mirrors, prisms, lenses, application of light properties in appliances and apparatus in nautical life, magnetism, magnets, magnetic force, properties of magnets, effect of magnetic phenomena on nautical life.

4This Course Aims: The general intention of this course is to provide Nautical cadets with the essential background in sound, light waves, electromagnetic radiation and magnetism with their properties. Course Objectives: Students should have the supporting background and a good understanding of the physics principles and common phenomena that are related to their environment in the water. Also, they should have the cleverness and ability of dealing with different equipment they are using through their sailing. Besides, this course provides them with the ability of searching for knowledge through many sources available nowadays. Prerequisite:BA 111 Credit: 3 HRS
