Meeting of the President of Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) and a Delegation from Port Training Institute (PTI) with the Iraqi Minister of Transport

On Sunday, December 3rd, Minister of Transport Mr. Razzaq Muhaibis welcomed His Excellency Prof. Ismail Abd El Ghaffar Ismail Farag, the President of AASTMT, , along with a delegation from Port Training Institute led by Prof. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of the Institute.

 

During the meeting, discussions centered on mutual cooperation, deepening relations, applying modern technology principles in transportation projects, supporting initiatives, and contributing to achieving progress in line with global advancements.

The President of the Academy expressed continuous support for maritime transport in Iraq, particularly given Iraq's major maritime presence in the region and the world through its significant projects.

In another context, Prof. Ismail Farag, accompanied by Prof. Alaa Morsy, visited the General Company for Ports of Iraq and its Training Institute on Monday, December 4th. They were received by the Director-General of the company, Dr. Engineer Farhan Al-Fartousi, to discuss the plan for Iraq's return to the International Maritime Organization's white list after a hiatus since 2003.

The Director-General emphasized the need for serious efforts to develop human resources in various administrative, technical, and engineering roles within the company, highlighting the international nature of the maritime sector and the importance of meeting its requirements.

He mentioned the collaboration with organizations such as the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport in rejoining the international system, expressing commitment to forward cooperation that aligns with the success of Iraq's maritime sector.

President of AASTMT, reiterated continuous support for maritime transport in Iraq, emphasizing the country's significant maritime position globally and expressing commitment to a one-year timeline for Iraq's re-inclusion in the International Maritime Organization's white list.
