Port Training Institute welcomes a delegation from Bernhard Schulte Ship Management company in Cyprus.

On 12th July,2024,  Port Training Institute welcomed a delegation from the Cyprus branch of Bernhard Schulte Ship management. The delegation included Mr. Arndt Steffen, the Recruitment Manager, and Mr. Athanasios Panoutsopoulos, the Head of the company's Student Training Program, accompanied by Dr. Kazem Al-Ajmi, Director of the Maritime Graduates Affairs Center at the Academy.

The delegation was received by Dr. Gamal Abdel Nasser, Director of Education and Training, on behalf of Professor. Alaa Mahmoud Morsy, Dean of Port Training Institute and the Center for Research and Consultation. Also present were Captain Yasser Al-Zawawi, Head of the Basic Studies Department for Seafarers; Captain Ahmed Sharabiya, a maritime programs lecturer at the institute; and Ms. Tahiya Al-Sherbeny, International Relations Coordinator and the responsible for career Development  center for Seafarers, who gave a presentation on the activities of the Port Training Institute both locally and internationally.

The presentation highlighted the Basic Studies Department for Seafarers and the career path of an Arab seafarer from enrollment at the institute. It also explained the institute's role in the professional development of seafarers during and after graduation through the Professional Development Unit for Seafarers, which aims to connect seafarers with the global job market.

Afterward, the guests toured the institute, including the simulation complex, laboratories, and training workshops. They met with lecturers to learn about training methods and spoke with graduates to understand their qualifications and capabilities as human resources for the company's ships. The delegation praised the impressive graduates they met and expressed their interest in implementing diversity principles within their crews, including the readiness to hire female seafarers.

It is worth mentioning that the company manages over 600 ships worldwide, and this visit was seen as a launch point for fruitful future cooperation in recruiting maritime labor at the support level for their fleet
