The program aims to have a research base specializing in the areas of maritime transport technology and contribute to the research activities of the International Maritime Organization. Moreover, provide a generation of distinguished researchers in the Arab and African regions who have the capacity for scientific and logical thinking and to find realistic solutions to professional and technical problems. The program also aims to enrich the Arabic library with specialized marine research and make full use of them to enhance the maritime and shipping industry at national and regional bases.
Doctorate of Philosophy in Maritime Transport Program
PhD program consists of a total (60) Credit Hours spread over a minimum of six semesters. The program consists of total (4) core courses and (4) elective courses of (24) Credit Hours spread over a minimum of two semesters. In addition, students have to register (36) Credit Hours as a research dissertation spread over a minimum of four semesters.
All courses are delivered in English language and thesis may be written in English or Arabic language.
The student should submit Dissertation proposal at the beginning of third semester, subject to pass of all core courses, after acceptance of the proposal from Institute council and evaluated by specialized area committee in public seminar, this committee consists of three members one of them is the senior supervisors, after registration MPI813 “Dissertation I”. The student can register “MPI814 Dissertation II” according to the supervisors of student progression reports. Before the registration of “MPI815 Dissertation III” student should demonstrate his dissertation progress in seminar with Institute council and “MPI816 Dissertation IV” depends on the recommendation of supervisors through student progression reports stated that the research works are proceeding according to the established plan.
