Program Description

This specialized Master’s program in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics) is strategically designed to offer highly qualified professionals in drug formulation and manufacturing. The curriculum delivers advanced scientific knowledge and practical expertise in the rational design, preparation, and optimization of pharmaceutical products, integrating cutting-edge technologies in dosage form development and drug delivery systems. Targeting pharmacists and scientific researchers, the program cultivates specialists equipped to lead innovation, enhance industrial competitiveness, and drive the local and global development of advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Learning Outcomes

  • Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will demonstrate sophisticated mastery across four core domains. In Fundamental Knowledge, they will integrate advanced principles of physical pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, and pharmacokinetics to rationally predict and optimize drug behavior, while applying principles of advanced pharmaceutical technology and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) to ensure products meet stringent safety and regulatory standards. Within the domain of Professional and Ethical Practice, graduates will adhere to ethical practices in pharmaceutical research, proficiently apply essential GMP and global regulatory guidelines (e.g., FDA, EMA) to product development and quality control, utilize advanced formulation techniques and stability testing, and execute original research by applying advanced statistical methods to accurately interpret in vitro and in vivo performance data. Pertaining to Pharmaceutical Care (core competence), graduates will be able to design and optimize diverse pharmaceutical formulations for various routes of administration, focusing on improving drug stability, bioavailability, patient acceptability, and ultimately, therapeutic outcomes. Finally, in Personal Practice, they will continually evaluate and synthesize scientific literature to remain current with specialized advances, communicate complex scientific information effectively to diverse audiences (oral and written), demonstrate effective problem-solving and creativity in addressing R&D challenges, and successfully manage all phases of a research project, including planning, data analysis, and dissemination of findings.

Markets and Career

  • The specialized expertise developed through the Master of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics) program strategically positions participants for high-demand roles across the entire pharmaceutical value chain. Potential career pathways exist within the Pharmaceutical Industry, encompassing critical functions such as Research and Development (novel formulation and stability testing), Drug Manufacturing supervision, Quality Control assurance, and Regulatory Affairs (drug registration). Significant opportunities are also available in Academic and Research Institutions, where specialized professionals are needed to lead scientific inquiry in advanced pharmaceutics and contribute to teaching and training. Furthermore, the specialized knowledge is essential for roles in specialized Medical Centers (e.g., preparation of complex sterile medications and provision of expert pharmaceutical consultation) and within Governmental and Regulatory Bodies ensuring drug quality and market compliance. Highly relevant emerging roles are also found in Biotechnology Startups focused on innovative drug delivery systems and in providing independent consultation services.
