Fall 2020

Tele-surgery System

This project is a cooperation between ECE and ME students.

Tele-surgery is one of teleoperation field that uses Electronics, Communication and Robotic technologies to allow surgeons to operate on patients, who are distantly located. There have been numerous technological advancements in tele-surgery since the world’s first tele-surgery in 2001, which was conducted by a surgical team in New York, USA using the ZEUS robotic system (Intuitive Surgical, Sunnyvale, CA, USA).

By entering IoT and Smart city era, using remote sensing application and teleoperation become one of the most demanding from the modern governments. In Egypt, current government starts to develop in the several sections including health sector. By the developing in this section, tele-surgery system will enhance in this development especially after the pandemic of Covid-19.

Fully Automated Smart Indoor Greenhouse - IoT for Smart Agriculture

By entering the Smart City and IoT era, IoT devices design faces several challenges based on the Smart City applications. Egypt government starts to use the latest technologies at several branches based on Smart City point of view. This is to achieve the control and monitoring the different utilities especially with the population growth in Egypt. One of these efforts is the Smart Agriculture. Smart Agriculture has several branches. One of these branches is “Indoor Greenhouse.” Indoor Greenhouse become one of the demands by several countries especially after the pandemic of Covid-19.

This project is an extending work for the last year project titled “Towards Smart Indoor Greenhouse.” In this phase, the aim of the project is to complete the design of a fully automated smart indoor greenhouse based on the results done in the first phase.
