The 2nd ILC – Global Supply Chain Leadership

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport – Alamein Campus, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid, Spain, successfully organized the 2nd International Logistics Camp (ILC 2022) under the theme “Global Supply Chain Leadership” during the period from August 1st to 3rd, 2022.

  • The camp’s outcomes supported the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting sustainable logistics education, responsible industry practices, and international cooperation.

Distinguished experts and industry leaders shared insights on global supply chain disruptions, leadership, digital transformation, and sustainability.

  • Among the keynote speakers were Dr. Ahmed Sobhi Hamedou (Swiss School of Management, Cairo), who introduced the Disruption Equations emphasizing the human-centered approach to organizational design; Prof. Ana di Diego Laguëra (University of Valladolid, Spain), who explored the fundamentals of communication and leadership; and Mr. Hani Omara (Al-Ahram Agency, Egypt), who discussed global trade behaviors and work ethics in logistics operations.
  • Prof. Sergio Castaño Riaño (University of Valladolid, Spain) addressed globalization risks and international trade agreements, while Prof. Islam ElNakib (Dean of CITL Alamein, AASTMT) analyzed supply chain disruptions, sourcing strategies, and performance measurement.
  • Ms. Eman Mohamed (Chief Commercial Officer, DB Schenker Egypt) delivered a session on Supply Chain Challenges and Solutions, and Prof. Khaled ElSekati (Dean of CITL Cairo, AASTMT) presented on Change Leadership in Supply Chains, emphasizing the seven key skills for modern supply chain leaders and his “3C’s” principle — Change, Collaboration, and Communication.
  • Interactive workshops enriched the program, including a supply chain simulation game by Mr. Andrew Ayad and Mr. Shady Abozeid, and a leadership coaching session by Eng. Ahmed El-Araby.
  • Dr. Baha Zaidan (CEO, UPA) and Dr. Omar Abdelaziz introduced the Unified Procurement Authority and its milestones in advancing Egypt’s health supply chain.
  • Industry sessions featured Eng. Tarek Zaghloul (CEO, CMA CGM Egypt & Sudan Cluster) who highlighted resilience and value creation in maritime logistics; Mr. Sherine Abbas (CEO, Pharco Co.) who shared the company’s journey in localizing pharmaceutical production to strengthen Egypt’s healthcare supply chain; Mr. Ankush Arora (Group CEO & Board Member, Mansour Automotive) who discussed automotive supply chain disruptions and mitigation strategies; and Dr. Ashraf Abdelwahab (Director of Digital Transformation & Public Sector, SAP Egypt) who explored the Network Effect and the role of digital integration in transforming supply chains into intelligent business ecosystems.

  • The camp concluded with a hands-on case study on global supply chains, guided by Dr. Karim Soliman, Dr. Dina Allam, and Dr. Mai ElSerafi (AASTMT), where participants analyzed real-world scenarios and proposed innovative solutions in collaborative discussions.
  • This year’s camp reaffirmed the Academy’s commitment to empowering the next generation of logistics leaders and strengthening international collaboration in supply chain education and practice.
