The 1st ILC – Smart and Sustainable Logistics

Under the auspices of Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport. The Arab Academy Al Alamein Campus, is witnessing the First International Logistics Camp in cooperation with Duisberg Essen University in Germany during the period from 30th of August till 2nd of September 2021 in the presence of Prof. Ing. Bernd Noche, Board Chairman of Center of Logistics and Traffic, and Prof. Ani Melkonyan, Executive Director of Center of Logistics and Traffic in University of Duisberg Essen, in the framework of spreading the best practices in Smart and Sustainable Logistics which is highly significant in the effective and rapid development in the EU and the MENA region.

  • The camp brought together leading academics and industry experts to explore technological innovation, renewable energy, and green logistics. Sessions tackled cutting-edge topics such as logistics automation, augmented reality in supply chains, lean manufacturing, and the Physical Internet (PI).
  • Speakers highlighted the growing importance of sustainability certifications, renewable energy integration, and digital transformation in shaping the future of logistics.
  • Participants engaged with real-world case studies and international insights from Egypt and Germany, emphasizing how smart technologies and circular economy principles can drive sustainable supply chain development worldwide.
  • The camp featured insightful talks and workshops from distinguished academics, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs addressing the evolving landscape of leadership, innovation, and sustainability in global logistics.
  • Highlights included discussions on entrepreneurship trends and ecosystems in Egypt, inspiring startup success stories from Freight Anchor and Motoholics, and interactive workshops on sustainable business design and the Maersk sustainability case study.
  • Experts also showcased the role of AI in logistics optimization, change leadership, and the digital transformation of global supply chains.
