Program

Egyptian Archaeology

Objectives

  • This course aims at providing the students with an introduction to Late Egyptian and Hieratic script. In the first of the course students will have an overview of the character of Late Egyptian, its literature and hieratic script. In the second part of the course students will learn more about Late Egyptian grammar, including phonology, morphology and syntax, and train to read hieratic script. In the last part of the course students will read short passages of literature or documentary texts in hieratic and analyse their content in terms of grammar and style.
