Program

Egyptian Archaeology

Objectives

  • This course aims at providing a thorough overview of ancient Egyptian art from the Predynastic period to the end of the Second Intermediate Period. The first part of the course will be a general methodological introduction, tackling issues of interpretation and understanding, techniques, materials, proportion grids, modules, etc. In the second part of the course the student will proceed chronologically from period to period, analysing works of art in the sphere of painting, sculpture, architecture and minor arts, included wood carving, jewellery, fabrics, ceramics.
