Through knowledge and understanding, students will be able to: • Describe the techniques of mummification in different civilizations • Identify the materials and tools which are used in mummification in different civilizations • Appreciate the manifestations of deterioration to human and animal mummies • Specify methods of examinations and scientific analysis of human remains • Explain the different modern methods for restoration and conservation of mummies • Recognise the scientific methods of museum display and preventive conservation Through intellectual skills, students will be able to: • Compare between the components and properties of different human and animal remains ancient preservation materials • Extrapolate on the manifestations of deteriorations and interpretation of the mechanism occurrence • Discern what is fictional information and what is scientific information about mummification • Determine the most proper materials and methods for conservation and museums display of human and animal remains • Use proper material for the conservation of human and animal remains • Use library sources effectively Through professional and practical skills, students will be able to: • Apply the scientific method in restoration and conservation of mummies • Use the scientific methods in the museum display and preservation of mummies • Write well-researched contributions to the field of the preservation of human and animal remains • Give a 10-minute presentation on a topic of restoration and conservation of mummies • Observe and write down observations in a reflective journal.
