Egyptian Archaeology

Objectives

• This course aims at studying the Islamic archaeology in the world. It focuses on the Islamic culture beginnings in the Arabian Peninsula, and the cultural transformation that Islam has brought in the areas. The course further focuses on the study of Islamic monuments of art and architecture, including the influence of Islam in architecture, arts and foundations. It further explores Islamic art, urban architecture, religious, civil and military architecture, with some examples in Islamic world. The course also includes an overview of the Islamic arts such as ceramics, pottery, textiles, metal, wood and ivory as well as engraving and sculpture in stone and plaster as well as calligraphy through examples from international museums.
