Supporting the Egyptian Policy Makers Policy

 

1-Policy Purpose

This policy shows how AASTMT supports stakeholder engagement with the Policy Makers in the Egyptian Government, especially through scientific research for balanced access to justice and the promotion of political and human rights.

2-Policy Statement 

Academic evidence and expertise can inform and improve government policy, but many academics find it difficult to contribute to policy-making. AASTMT shall support the Egyptian policy makers and authorities through scientific research, facilitating public engagement and a participatory approach for better governance.

4-Policy Description

AASTMT considers that supporting the policy makers in the Egyptian Government is one of its important priorities, especially through research and its’ researchers. AASTMT facilitates collaborative decision-making and civic engagement between researchers and national policymakers, establishing mechanisms for stakeholder engagement to support research uptake for the benefit of public policy design, delivery, and evaluation.

 

AASTMT can provide this support in diverse ways, by:

  • Ensuring that their research and expertise are easily accessible for policy makers online, enhancing freedom of information
  • Creating a matchmaking tool for policy makers and academic researchers to foster collaborative decision-making
  • Facilitating the engagement and communication of its researchers with Egyptian policymakers to promote public participation.
  • Providing training on engaging with policymaking, focusing on participatory approaches and mentoring by more experienced academics.
  • Presenting different online resources, digital library access and any other tools required by the Policy makers researchers.
  • Funding policy-making training programs for its researchers to ensure effective civic engagement.
  • Delivering targeted seminars and workshops on skills for effective policy engagement that address corruption and maltreatment in governance.
  • Facilitating diverse communication systems between policy makers and academic researchers to ensure transparency and accountability. 
  • By prioritizing stakeholder engagement, AASTMT aims to strengthen the rule of law and promote effective policies that protect human rights in Egypt.

AASTM- Borg Al-Arab Technological University Agreement

AASTMT President welcomed the President of Borg Al-Arab Technological University, they signed an agreement to enhance discussion, cooperation, students and staff exchange experiences.

AASTMT-Salamanca Agreement

AASTMT President signed an agreement with Salamanca University, the agreement intends to create the Arab-Spanish Center of Excellence of Technology, AI and Cybersecurity along with enhancing the Two party’s expertise and knowledge sharing.

AASTMT- Saeed El-Khier Development Cooperation

The company is specialized in providing innovative solutions in community development and social welfare. AASTMT and the company signed an agreement to strengthen the scientific and academic cooperation between the two parties. The protocol of cooperation aims to train and qualify students in the initiative “Building Capacities of Law Schools Students” launched by the company in cooperation with AASTMT which aims to build students capabilities and qualify them to the labor market

AASTMT-Minster of Environment Meeting

Within the effort of AASTMT to toward the environmental conservation this meeting strengthen the cooperation in integrating environmental programs into AASTMT's educational initiatives, establishing a Climate Change Information Center, and launching a carbon reduction initiative called "Together to Reduce Carbon". This collaboration and collaborative research build on AASTMT's commitment to climate action, which includes participating in discussions on environmental challenges and supporting regional climate policies and efforts to promote sustainable waste management.

AASTMT Participation in the International Workshop on the impacts of Climate Change on Coastal Cities

AASTMT participated in a workshop on climate change risk management in coastal cities in Alexandria. The event was held in preparation for the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in June 2025 and focused on enhancing coastal resilience.

UNI-GREEN Project Workshop

The Unigreen Project was a European Union-funded initiative that empowered Egyptian youth to develop entrepreneurial solutions for climate change mitigation. The Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) was a key partner, co-leading the project with the Life Makers Foundation. This workshop aims to increase the role of Egyptian universities as civil society organizations in advancing youth participation in climate change mitigation. The main role of AASTMT in the workshop is to build the capacity of university students, teaching assistants, and professors to address climate issues.

First place for AASTMT team at Enacuts Egypt National Competition

AASTMT Heliopolis Campus team won first place at the Enactus Egypt National Competition in 2024. This victory earned them the right to represent Egypt at the Enactus World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan, in October 2024. The winning students for the project are Heliopolis team was "ClimA". The project addressed Egypt's issues with CO2 and VOC emissions and developed a method to use the harmful water hyacinth plant to produce activated carbon.

An initiative under the title How to plan for your future and be an Entrepreneur

one of AATMT social responsibility and community engagement is to train and develop young schools students skills. College of Computing and Information Technology was pleased to send Dr. Mohamed, Dr. Nahla, and Mr. Ali AASTMT to meet with Year 11 and Year 12 students. The initiative arranged by the Egyptian Government, titled “How to Plan for Your Future and Become an Entrepreneur.

The Ready For Tomorrow project, powered by AAST Entrepreneurship Centre and PLAN International Foundation

The "Ready For Tomorrow" project is an initiative designed to empower young entrepreneurs in Egypt by helping them turn their business ideas into reality. It is powered by a collaboration between the AAST Entrepreneurship Centre and Plan International Foundation.

 Participants receive intensive training and mentorship to develop skills in ideation, creating business models, marketing, finance, and legal aspects of starting a company.  It provides networking events to connect participants with industry experts and other like-minded individuals.

AASTMT Alumni Career Fare

Alumni Career Fair 2024 was an event organized by the AASTMT Alumni Center to provide job and internship opportunities for AASTMT students and alumni, featuring meetings with corporate representatives and a networking channel for career development. There were multiple career fairs held under the umbrella of "AASTMT Alumni Career Fair 2024", including one at the Sheraton Campus in Cairo on February 21, 2024 and another at the Alamein Campus.

Young Researchers Conference 

The Young Researcher Conference" provides platforms for students and early-career academics to present their work, exchange ideas, and build professional networks. The conference aims to spread the importance of scientific research to develop students’ capabilities in pre-university education.

Urban Solutions Lab Interactive Games for Climate-Resilient and Livable Cities

The "Urban Solutions Lab Interactive Games for Climate-Resilient and Livable Cities" was a training event hosted by (AASTMT) in November 2024. It was Held during the World Urban Forum 12 (WUF12) in Cairo, the event used interactive games to teach participants about integrating climate action into urban planning. Debatable Urbs game was developed by AASTMT students and faculty members. It engages participants in discussions and debates about building climate-resilient and livable cities.

AASTMT- Egyptian Supreme Constitutional Court MOU

AASTMT signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Supreme Constitutional Court. The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions in areas of common interest and enhance the rule of law in AASTMT. These include knowledge exchange and capacity-building.

Opening ceremony of the second International Youth Forum for Creativity and Innovation in Artificial Intelligence

The forum, held under the patronage of the Egyptian Prime Minister, ran from April 27 to May 2, 2024, and involved participants from 32 countries. The forum organized by AASTMT and the different government ministers and organizations.

Start-ups Day

College of Language smart village campus support the students and their youthful ideas. The college innovate the “Start ups Day” this initiatives provides innovative solutions that serve the local community. The students excelled in displaying their creative projects in the bazaar, which included handicrafts, accessories, clothes, and sweets, reflecting the spirit of innovation and creativity among the college's students.
