Pharmaceutical Organic Chemistry II (2 hrs Lecture+1 hr Practical)

  • College of Pharmacy |

Description

This course comprises carboxylic acids, sulphonic acid, nitro compounds, diazonium salts, cycloalkanes and heterocyclic compounds. The students are exposed to the chemistry and properties of these classes of compounds, some names and types of reactions involved in their synthesis and reactions as well as some relevant mechanisms

Program

Bachelor of Pharmacy - PharmD (Clinical Pharmacy)

Objectives

    .

    1.2

Identify the proper chemical names and terms of studied organic compounds.

    1.3

Integrate the knowledge of organic compounds basicity and acidity and other physicochemical properties to handle, identify and prepare different organic compounds such as sulfa drugs, azo dyes

    2.1

Apply organic chemistry principles for purification and identification of organic chemical compounds.

    2.2

Recognize different principles in synthesis of various synthetic organic compounds.

    2.3

Handle different organic compounds used in the pharmaceutical field

    4.1

Demonstrate responsibility for team performance and express time management skills.

    4.2

Retrieve and critically analyze information, identify and solve problems, and work autonomously and effectively in a team.
