The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), "Smart Village Branch", hosted today, Tuesday, the joint meeting of the technical committees for land, maritime and multimodal transport.
The meeting was held in the presence of His Excellency Dr.

The meeting’s agenda included a number of issues related to the Arab transport sector, including the reservation of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on Article (5/1) in the agreement regulating transit transport between the amended Arab countries.

The items also included a discussion of establishing an Arab company for the transport of goods between Arab countries, and the necessity and importance of establishing an electronic platform for land transport between Arab countries.

The meeting discussed the sixth draft of the draft agreement to regulate the maritime transport of passengers and goods between Arab countries, as well as a pilot study on a proposal to establish national maritime gatherings in the Arab countries.

He also discussed the draft terms of reference for studying the establishment of a joint Arab mechanism to support the shipbuilding and repair industry in the Arab countries, and the draft terms of reference for studying the establishment of a database in the field of ship repair and construction industry in Arab countries

This comes while the recommendations of the joint meeting are expected to be submitted to the next session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Transport Ministers scheduled for next June for consideration.

For his part, HE Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, welcomed the attendees, expressing his happiness to host this important meeting, as it deals with issues of necessity and importance for the multi-modal land and maritime transport sector in the Arab world.

Abdul Ghaffar also expressed his wishes for this joint meeting for more success and coming up with many recommendations that contribute to the development of the transport sector in Arab countries.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed that the Academy spares no effort in fulfilling its role as a technical arm and house of expertise for the League of Arab States in the field of education, training and consultancy to provide assistance to brotherly Arab countries.

He pointed out that the Academy is exerting more effort and work to bring the Arab and African human component and Arab ports to the highest levels, which effectively contributes to the comprehensive economic development of our Arab nation and extends to African countries
