Read our Sustainable Procurement policy

This policy aims to outline the institution's position on the management of ethical and sustainable procurement. The fundamental sustainability standards for the products and services that the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) purchases are outlined in its Sustainable Procurement Policy.  The goals of AASTMT about sustainable procurement are outlined in its Sustainable Practices Policy. Furthermore, it delineates the standards and directives for AASTMT's sustainable procurement methodologies, with particular emphasis on the obligations of AASTMT purchasers concerning sustainable procurement operations.
The Sustainable Practices Policy of AASTMT prioritizes waste reduction as a key strategy. This is achieved through a hierarchical approach that prioritizes elimination, reuse, and recycling in that order. According to this viewpoint, the practice of sustainable procurement comprises the following steps: first, reducing the number of unnecessary purchases; second, giving priority to obtaining surplus or multipurpose goods before obtaining recyclable or compostable alternatives.
