AASTMT Helps in Solving Groundwater Problem in 'Drao' streets

Governor Ashraf Attia has tasked a technical committee, led by Assistant General Secretary Major General Ayman Reda, to inspect and study the reasons behind the problem of ponds and water accumulation in the areas of Al-Khor and Al-Shatb Qebli in Daraw.

Ayman Reda stated that the committee includes consultants and specialists from the Faculty of Engineering and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, in addition to officials from the National Authority, the Water and Sanitation Company, Housing, and the City Council.

He noted that an urgent solution has been initiated by summoning water suction vehicles to drain and remove the accumulated water in the sewage chambers and the area surrounding the social housing buildings. The committee is working to review, clean, and unclog the sewage networks, aiming to complete the process within three days and provide covers for them.

Ayman Reda explained that the committee recommended the rapid maintenance and operation of 4 inactive wells to play their role in drawing and absorbing groundwater to mitigate its negative impact on the homes in the Al-Shatb Qebli village.

Upon completion of the committee's detailed report, including all causes, recommendations, and required technical and engineering solutions, it will be presented to the governor for the implementation of comprehensive solutions to the problem
