Description

This course focuses on the entrepreneurial management in the context of globalization. It discusses theories and current research on the creation and development of entrepreneurial organizations. It introduces useful conceptual models and analytical tools for devising entrepreneurial strategies. Important aspects of entrepreneurship, such as the characteristics of entrepreneurial leaders, the dynamics of venture capital industry, networks and innovation, and business model design, will also be reviewed in the course. The classes will use readings or cases to explore these matters in depth.

  • By the end of this course, each student should be able to: • Acquire a broad understanding on enterprise creation. • Understand how to create an entrepreneurial organization. • Employ theoretical and conceptual knowledge regarding entrepreneurial organizations creation, management, and problems in the local and global contexts in terms of its viability and sustainability. • Identify the concepts, theories, and approaches to information-based decision making to starting up and leading entrepreneurial organizations. • Gather, analyze, and evaluate empirical data and information useful for entrepreneurial organizations actions. • Help recognize the founders’ role in shaping an entrepreneurial organization. • Interpret and analyze complex entrepreneurship issues from multiple perspectives and critically review academic literature and other relevant information sources. • Apply proven theoretical and conceptual knowledge of entrepreneurship and business challenges in contexts for viable and sustainable solutions. • Operate effectively within a multicultural environment, demonstrating teambuilding and intercultural communication skills needed in entrepreneurial organizations.
