This course aims to provide students with a full understanding of the growing importance of international logistics systems, operations and supply chain management. This course approaches logistics and supply chain management from a managerial perspective and introduces concepts in a format useful for management decision making with an application on small and medium enterprises.

Objectives

  • studnts taking this course will be able to integrate the concepts of logistics and supply chain management into SME's environment that will aim at achieving cost-effectiveness and competitiveness. By the end of the course, students will be able to:  Understand the primary differences between logistics and supply chain management.  Understand the processes of supply chain management and their interrelationships within SME’s and across the supply chain.  Understand the management components of supply chain management.  Utilize the tools and techniques essential in implementing supply chain management in SME’s.  Analyze how logistical decisions impact the performance of SME’s as well as the entire supply chain.  Develop knowledge about key elements of logistics processes in SME’s, such as logistics planning and strategy, customer service, procurement, transport, inventory, warehousing, and handling.  Explore the professional opportunities in supply chain management.  Develop the strategies that can be taken to manage inventories, including deciding the timing and quantity for replenishments without hurting the level of product availability in SME’s.  Develop the strategies that can be taken to find the best paths to route vehicles to deliver and collect goods at multiple stops in SME’s.
