Description

The course enhances students understanding about the origin and evolution of international business along with applications of trade and international business. In addition, it identifies the dimensions of the international business environment and the elements of its stability (cultural, economic, political, and legal environments of international business). Today, organisations are facing enormous challenges that require understanding of the new competition from emerging markets that are growing much faster than its counterparts in developed countries. This course aims at enriching students’ knowledge and information with the basics of global business, its nature and its various modes. Moreover, it clarifies the impacts of the controllable and uncontrollable variables on global business transactions and the different strategies adopted by transnational corporations (Multinationals). Also, it identifies the future of international business and global trends in this area. The course also links organization local and international practices, provides background on the differences and similarities between domestic and international markets, and introduces strategies of entry into global markets.

Objectives

  • Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:  Understand the nature and major concepts of global business and the rapid change of international business.  Possess knowledge of the different factors and variables affecting transnational international business.  Acquire knowledge in the field of global business and delivery of various business case studies that cover topics such as International Trade and Foreign Direct.  Examine multinational corporation’s activities internationally and its risks.  Identify the essential elements of business environments, delineate and discuss the differences between the various domestic, regional and global business environments.  Analyze the impacts of the different environments on the performance of transnational corporations especially understand international institutions from an international business perspective.  Develop international strategies and new organizations’ forms.
