Description

This course provides a detailed overview of the concepts and processes used in doing business electronically. It provides students with the opportunity to engage in brain storming, group work, report writing and presenting activities. Students learn how to research, investigate, and critically analyze real life case studies based on the knowledge acquired throughout the course. This will include information exchange processes (EDI) and inter- and intra-organizational communications; electronic exchange and business including EFT, smart cards and electronic money; security issues and networks; internets, intranets and extranets; business models and e-commerce; the internet customer and marketing; economics and e-commerce; taxation, business and exchange issues in e-commerce; legal and ethical issues in e-commerce. The course is designed to provide the students with coverage of the e-Business & e-Commerce concepts and technologies. The course includes different topics such as information systems, achieving a completive edge using IS, improving Decision making and managing knowledge. It also covers topics related to e-business and e-commerce, EC framework, business and revenue models, e-tailing and e-applications, internet marketing, B2B transactions, innovative EC systems, e-payment and m-commerce; security; and issues related to launching a successful online business.

Objectives

  • • Understand principles of MIS and E-Business. • Define major types of systems and how information systems support business functions. • Possess knowledge of the different Information Systems and how to achieve a competitive advantage and business solutions. • Demonstrate the ability to describe retailing in EC and business models.  Understand and describe innovative EC systems, marketing and advertising strategies, and payment methods. • Develop models for business cases and provide business with the possible solution (s) according to business situation.  Differentiate between EC transaction types, business and revenue models, and different payment systems. • Analyze and verify MIS and E-business issues and technologies.  Evaluate and propose solutions to improve real case studies.
