Description

The first part of this course provides the students with a comprehensive introduction to the basic concepts, procedures and techniques of financial accounting and their applications in hospital settings. Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of using and interpreting accounting information within the decision-making process. Among the financial topics that will be covered during this course are: basic financial statements, the accounting cycle, costing of services, management of assets and liabilities, depreciation and ratio analysis. The remainder of the course introduces the cost accounting and management control concepts and uses for hospitals. This part is meant to develop a basic knowledge of the cost accounting, including full and differential costing techniques and management control structures.
