Cyber Security Program

Cyber Security Program

The program offers the bachelor degree in Cybersecurity. The candidate for the bachelor degree in cybersecurity is required to pursue scholastic quality and complete a plan of study prepared with his academic advisor and approved by the Computer Science Department Council. The number of credit hours required for graduation is 132 (cr. hr.) spreading over 8 academic semesters. The first 4 semesters are common for all College programs. Then, the student chooses her/his specialization among College Programs.

The program curriculum provides great flexibility in course selection and offers a broad scientific base by containing a collection of courses in mathematics, physics, humanities, and sciences. These courses are accompanied by Cybersecurity courses covering different areas such as Ethical Hacking and Penetration Testing, Digital Forensics and Incident Response, Software Security, Malware Analysis and Reverse Engineering, Web Security, and others.

Program Objectives
Graduates of Cybersecurity program at CCIT are expected, within a few years of graduation, to:

  • (PEO1) Have successful careers in a wide range of industries through leveraging their Cybersecurity expertise.
  • (PEO2) Advance their Cybersecurity skills through continuous learning, research, and/or graduate studies.
  • (PEO3) Further enhance their skills in communication, teamwork, leadership, critical thinking, and time managementand commit to ethical, legal, and societal considerations.

Student Outcomes
Student outcomes for the Cybersecurity program were adopted starting Fall 2022/2023 taking into account latest ABET
recommendations. The outcomes state that graduates of the program will have an ability to:

  • (SO1) Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  • (SO2) Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
  • (SO3) Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts
  • (SO4) Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles
  • (SO5) Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  • (SO6) Apply security principles and practices to maintain operations in the presence of risks and threats.
