Al Fanar Media Foundation, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, organized an intensive five-day training workshop that discussed several important topics, including the concept of media literacy, the importance of information, reliable and unreliable news sources, types of media (journalism, promotion, and entertainment), the eight indicators of trust, and forms of news journalism. Participants were also trained on how to prepare for media interviews and the impact of social media on mood. The workshop witnessed practical applications of fact-checking techniques, including using artificial intelligence tools to examine images and videos and detect fabricated news. It also included interactive activities to enhance participants’ skills in analyzing news and verifying its credibility, to reduce the spread of media misinformation, and to enhance awareness of information verification mechanisms.

Students attended several practical and educational workshops held on the sidelines of the conference, which ranged from integrating artificial intelligence into journalism and storytelling, ethical considerations in creating digital content, the role of social media in reshaping communication, and the future of traditional media in a technology-dependent world.

Students attended numerous training workshops about Greenpeace and sustainable resilience and numerous discussion panels on the dilemmas caused by human interventions towards our planet and ourselves, as well as negotiating ways to curb, if not solve, these dilemmas.
