The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) launched the campaign “AASTians Go Green” along with a marathon on Thursday 5th of March 2020, on Smart Village Campus. The campaign and marathon are organized under the auspices of H.E Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary General of the Arab League, in the presence of Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Egyptian Minister of Local Development, Prof. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, H.E Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, AASTMT President, Dr. Inas Barsoum, Vice President of Students Affairs, Professor Hanan Youssef, Dean of CLC, and a group of AASTMT deans, deputies, academic staff members and students. The marathon was launched in the presence of several media, sports and public figures, students of CLC, and sports champions and athletes of AASTMT from all different branches. Prof. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, was impressed by the organized event at AASTMT, Smart Village Campus, stating that the Ministry of Youth and Sports constantly supports all initiatives that align with the Egypt’s strategic plans toward the developments of youth. Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Egyptian Minister of Local Development, showcased the importance of sustainability development programs particularly those that target our ecosystems. At the closing of the campaign and marathon, H.E Prof. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, AASTMT President, honored Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, Egyptian Minister of Local Development, and Prof. Ashraf Sobhy, Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, for their continuous support and relentless efforts. CLC faculty and staff members took active part in the event and Mr. Hatem Moustafa, a teaching assistant at CLC, won the second place medal in the marathon. CLC students were responsible for the media coverage of the event.
