RIC is a division of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology (AAST), founded in 2001 and located in Alexandria, Egypt. AAST is a specialized organization of the League of Arab States, and RIC is its flagship center for informatics and robotics education and research in the Middle East and North Africa.
In recognition of the rapid technological advancements of the 21st century, particularly in informatics, AAST, under the inspiring leadership of Dr. Gamal Mokhtar, established RIC with the following goals:

For example, RIC is a member of the Arab Robotics Association (ARA), which is a network of organizations dedicated to the advancement of robotics in the Arab world. RIC is also involved in the organization of the International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), which is an annual competition for high school students with an interest in programming.
