Certain Type of Ships Endorsements for engineer officers

Firstly: requirements for the Tankers endorsement of watchkeeping engineer officer Every Candidate for the endorsement shall:

  1. Be holding at least 3rd engineer officer certificate of competency
  2. Passed successfully the advanced fire fighting course
  3. Have completed in the preceding 5 years one of the following streams:

    First stream/////Have completed at least three months of approved seagoing service on an oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers according to the required endorsement and was assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo operations and cargo equipment

    Second stream/////Complete an approved basic training in oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers, according to the required endorsement, which shall meet the standard of competence specified in STCW Code and IMO model course.

    Secondly: requirements for the Tankers endorsement of chief and 2nd engineer officersEvery Candidate for the endorsement shall:

    1. Be holding Chief or 2nd engineer officers certificate of competency according to the required endorsement.
    2. Passed successfully the advance fire fighting course
    3. Complete an approved advanced training in oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers, according to the required endorsement, which shall meet the standard of competence specified in the STCW Code and IMO model course.
    4. Have completed at least 3 months of approved seagoing service in the preceding 5 years, from the date of applying to issue the endorsement, on an oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers according to the required endorsement after the date of issue of watchkeeping engineer officer endorsement on the same type of tankers

      Or

      Have completed at least 6 months of approved seagoing service in the preceding 2 years, from the date of applying to issue the endorsement for the first time, on an oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers according to the required endorsement and passing an approved oral examination of the required endorsement.

      Thirdly: Endorsements required by this article shall be renewed at intervals not to exceed 5 years after fulfilling the following:

      1. Have an approved seagoing service of at least 3 months, after date of issue of the endorsement, on the specified type of tanker according to the required endorsement
      2. Complete the required mandatory training courses according to the required endorsement.
      3. • Passing an approved oral examination for the required endorsement, if not complying with paragraph (a) above.

        Passenger and Ro-Ro passenger ship endorsements for engineer officers

        Every Candidate for the endorsement, in the capacity of chief or 2nd engineer officer shall have completed the training in accordance to the STCW code as follow:

        1. training in crowd management
        2. the safety training for personnel providing direct service to passengers in passenger spaces
        3. training in crisis management and human behaviour
        4. training in passenger safety, cargo safety and hull integrity

          Short mandatory training courses required for personnel on certain types of ships

          Candidates applying for certain type of ships endorsements require to complete short mandatory training courses required for personnel serving on certain types of ships

          The Candidate to certificate of proficiency as ship security officer shall:

          1. Holding any of engineer officer certificate of competency
          2. Have an approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months.
          3. Complete successfully proficiency as ship security officer course.

            Engineers officers working on board dynamic positioning vessels shall complete dynamic position system training course, which shall illustrate the basic concept and the operation of the system.
