Have completed in the preceding 5 years one of the following streams: First stream////Have completed at least three months of approved seagoing service on an oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers according to the required endorsement and was assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo operations and cargo equipment
Second stream////Completing an approved basic training in oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers, according to the required endorsement, which shall meet the standard of competence specified in STCW Code and IMO model course.
Secondly: requirements for Tankers endorsement for Master and Chief officer ////Every Candidate for the endorsement shall:
- Be holding Master or Chief Officer certificate of competency according to the required endorsement.
- Passed successfully the advanced fire fighting course
- Complete an approved advanced training in oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers, according to the required endorsement, which shall meet the standard of competence specified in STCW Code and IMO model course.
- Have completed at least 3 months of approved seagoing service in the preceding 5 years, from the date of applying to issue the endorsement, on an oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers according to the required endorsement after the date of issue of watchkeeping officer endorsement on the same type of tankers,
Or ////Have completed at least 6 months of approved seagoing service in the preceding 2 years, from the date of applying to issue the endorsement for the first time, on an oil, chemical or liquefied gas tankers according to the required endorsement and passing an approved oral examination of the required endorsement.
Thirdly: Endorsements required by this article shall be renewed at intervals not to exceed 5 years after fulfilling the following:
- Have an approved seagoing service of at least 3 months, after date of issue of the endorsement, on the specified type of tanker according to the required endorsement
- Complete the required mandatory training courses according to the required endorsement.
- *Passing an approved oral examination for the required endorsement, if not complying with paragraph (a) above.
Passenger and Ro-Ro passenger ship endorsements for masters and deck officers
Every Candidate for the endorsement, in the capacity of master, chief officer or watchkeeping officer shall have completed the training in accordance to the STCW code as follow:
- training in crowd management
- the safety training for personnel providing direct service to passengers in passenger spaces
- training in crisis management and human behaviour
- training in passenger safety, cargo safety and hull integrity
Large ships and ships with special maneuver requirements endorsements for masters and deck officers
Every Candidate for the endorsement shall:
- Be holding Master or Chief Officer Certificate of competency according to the required endorsement.
- Complete an approved training in ship simulator, which shall be capable of simulating and illustrating the maneuvering characteristic of large ships and ships with special maneuver requirements, according to the required endorsement.
- Pass an approved oral examination in the required endorsement
High speed craft endorsement for masters and deck officers
Every Candidate for the endorsement shall:
- Be holding a certificate of competency
- Have complete an approved training in a high speed craft simulator in the recognized maritime institution or have complete an approved seagoing service of at least 3 months in the preceding 2 years and pass a practical examination which shall determine the type of craft, capacity and ship’s route by the competent maritime authority
Revalidation of the high speed craft endorsement
- The validity of endorsement not to exceed 2 years
- Passing a practical examination onboard a high speed craft in route by the competent maritime authority which shall determine the type of craft, capacity and ship’s route
Short mandatory training courses required for personnel on certain types of ships
- a-Candidates applying for certain type of ships endorsements require to complete short mandatory training courses required for personnel on certain types of ships .
- b-For the Candidate to obtain certificate of proficiency as ship security officer shall:
- *Hold any of the deck officers certificate of competency
- *Have an approved seagoing service of not less than 12 months.
- *Complete successfully proficiency as ship security officer course.
c-Master and deck officers working on board dynamic positioning vessels shall complete dynamic position system training course, which shall illustrate the basic concept and the operation of the system.
