AASTMT is deeply committed to fostering sustainable cities and communities. Through targeted initiatives and strategic partnerships, AASTMT actively collaborates with local authorities to address critical issues in urban planning, urban development, and infrastructure. AASTMT’s work directly supports the development of resilient, inclusive communities by focusing on everything from intelligent transportation and public transport to the preservation of cultural heritage and managing solid waste, thereby creating a foundation for accessible and sustainable housing solutions.
Symposium on "Smart Cities and Intelligent Transportation" with the Ministry of Transport
Through a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Transport and local transport authorities, AASTMT actively contributed to shaping the framework for Egypt's future smart cities. The symposium convened experts to optimize road network efficiency through intelligent systems, with a specific emphasis on enhancing public transit to facilitate sustainable residential mobility. These proceedings directly inform governmental policy on urban planning and infrastructure investment, ensuring the creation of accessible, connected environments. By working with national and local authorities on these critical transportation issues, AASTMT is helping to establish the foundational infrastructure required to successfully address housing and development challenges.

AASTMT actively engages in collaboration with local authorities by providing expert planning and development advisory services, including the preparation of comprehensive feasibility studies for strategic projects. A prime example of this engagement is the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Urban Development Fund (UDF) in February 2023. Through this partnership, AASTMT assists in guiding urban development projects across Egypt’s capital cities and governorates, ensuring that infrastructure expansion includes measures to protect areas with unique characteristics. This cooperation directly supports national efforts in addressing planning issues and fostering sustainable urban growth.

Crafting Matrouh’s Identity: A Collaborative Vision for Culture, Heritage, and Sustainable Communities

The international research projects center is the link between AASTMT and external funding entities that support international research projects. Also, the center liaisons with the national and international universities, institutes and organizations to put the outcomes of the research projects aligned with the strategic vision of AASTMT in serving all the Arab region.

Charting the Future of Maritime Innovation: The AASTMT Maritime Research and Consultation Center
The International Research Projects Center (IRPC) functions as the primary strategic interface between AASTMT and external funding entities, specifically targeting initiatives that drive regional planning and development. By serving as a liaison between AASTMT, national and local authorities, and international institutes, the Center ensures that research outcomes are effectively translated into practical applications for sustainable urban growth. This collaborative framework aligns academic innovation with the strategic needs of the Arab region, facilitating partnerships for development that directly inform public policy and infrastructure planning.

AASTMT provides planning and development advisory services in many areas. These services include the preparation of initial studies and feasibility studies in addition to the required feasibility studies.
AASTMT collaboration with Urban Development Fund (UDF): AAST signed MoU with Urban Development Fund February 2023, the UDF focuses on projects in Egypt’s capital cities and governorates, aiming to protect areas with unique characteristics.

Agreement with Matrouh Governorate for the Development of Visual Identity and Creation of Sustainable Communities: AASTMT designs the visual identity for Matrouh Governorate. This initiative is part of the ongoing collaboration between the Academy and the Governorate, following the signing of a protocol to prepare a guide for the visual identity. The project aims to highlight the cultural, historical, and touristic values of the governorate and enhance its overall image. It also seeks to improve services in Egyptian cities through sustainable development programs. A technical committee has been formed to study the establishment of a visual identity for each governorate to deepen national belonging among youth and children, with the involvement of local universities to ensure professionalism and quality in execution.

Also the center liaisons with the national and international universities, institutes and organizations to put the outcomes of the research projects aligned with the strategic vision of the Academy in serving all the Arab region.
