22 Dec. 2023: Launch of Uni-Green Climate Change Competition                                  

AASTMT in operation with Life Makers Foundation and funded by the European union announced the launch of this competition in fields of small-sale renewable energy, greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, waste management and recycling, biodynamic agriculture and halting desertification.

25 Oct. 2023: Dean’s Lecture

Dean of AASTMT college of Engineering and Technology - Alexandria gave a lecture entitled:  “The role of the business community towards implementing innovative solutions in the field of renewable energy through the Global Program for Sustainable Development in Ports” at the Businessmen Association  in Alexandria

➢ 15-16 Nov. 2023: Towards Green and Sustainable Future School Initiative (Third Phase) 
This was the third stage of this initiative which was hosted by AASTMT college of Engineering and Technology - Alexandria Campus where students present their projects at the final Competition.

17 JULY 2023: IEEE YESIST12 Prelim 2023 hosted by AAST where competitors come from all over Egypt (undergraduates, graduates and postgraduates) to compete upon tracks that serve different sdgs, among which green energy and reduce carbon emission are considered the competition main goals.

25 May 2023: Towards a Green Sustainable Future" School Initiative: Visit to Ryada School (Second Phase)

In the framework of the second phase of this initiative As collaboration between AAST with community towards sustainability, Ryada school hosted some of sustainability team professors to spread awareness about sdgs

20 April 2023: Inclusion of AASTMT journal “Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development” in the global database Scopus 

Inclusion of AASTMT journal “Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development” in the global database Scopus, in 20/4/2023, which is considered a unique experience for an Egyptian publishing house to manage a scientific journal that is included in Scopus.

10 Nov. 2022: "GO GREEN: Save your Planet Earth using GREEN ICT Technology" Initiative

In light of AAST role in serving sustainability and green environment, AAST computer engineering department, at the headquarters, launched this initiative.

19 Nov. 2022: A TV Interview on COP 27 climate conference, green environment, and Egypt’s effective regional and African role in this field.    

The “Hiwar Al-Youm” television program on Channel 5 of Alexandria TV is hosting Professor Ibrahim Hassan – Head of AASTMT Department of Chemical and Petrochemical Engineering - and the episode will cover the activities of the COP 27 climate conference, the green environment, and Egypt’s effective regional and African role in this field.

13 September 2022: Initiative Towards A Green And Sustainable Future (First Phase)

With the participation of the Academy’s sustainable development team, the College of Engineering and Technology of AAST hosted this initiative. The aim of the initiative was to open avenues of cooperation between the academy and schools to educate students and educational institutions towards the goals of sustainable development
The participants visited the solar power plant at the Faculty of Engineering, which is the largest plant in Egypt on the roof of an educational building, and visited the renewable energy lab to explain the methods of producing energy from sustainable means such as wind and green hydrogen. Measuring vital indicators of climate and water and how to purify and desalinate water. The visit also included a visit to the Aquaculture Center, where he explained modern farming methods with use limited water resources and recycled waste.

15 March 2022: AASTIANS Go Green Initiative: "Arab Youth Green Venture" project

This initiative started, from the headquarters of the Academy at the Smart Village, in 2020 till present exhibiting a series of awareness and activities events with AAST and the community.  This initiative is part of the Academy's social responsibility and in line with the cooperation agreement signed with His Excellency Major General Mahmoud Shaarawy, the Minister of Local Development, and His Excellency Professor Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail, the President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, regarding the planning and implementation of the "Always Green Academy" campaign.

The day included various activities, such as the opening of an exhibition showcasing environmental protection projects and activities by distinguished students and graduates of the Academy. A sports marathon was launched as well with the slogan "AASTIANS Go Green," involving the participation of officials, employees, and students, creating an enthusiastic atmosphere.

This day was organized within the framework of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport's participation in the environmental initiative "Prepare for Green," launched by the Ministry of Environment under the patronage of President El-Sisi, as part of the National Sustainable Development Strategy "Egypt 2030.

41 students from the Academy`s branches from Abu Qir, Wabour Al Mayah, Smart Village and Heliopolis participated in the event. The main purpose of the initiative was to:
• Raise youth awareness about the importance of climate change issues and its impacts on the various sustainable development goals related to the environment (SDG 6, 7, 13, 15).
• Learn some skills to reduce carbon footprint by changing some habits such as (reducing waste, reusing waste, reducing the use of plastic and non-biodegradable materials, as well as planting roofs and balconies).
• Identifying jobs and green opportunities for work and development. To produce students Initiatives and ideas that contribute to their communities` response to climate change.

  

➢10 JAN 2022: “Prepare for Green” symposium and “Go Green” workshop organized by AASTMT-smart village branch within the frame of the national strategy for sustainable development “EGYPT 2030” and the initiative of AASTMT to raise environmental awareness within its headquarters.

26-Oct-2021: Egyptian Photovoltaic Energy Market Seminar organized by The Electrical & Control Engineering Department and focused on the current and future trends of solar energy market. The speaker was Prof. Ahmed Kadry Abdelsalam - a staff member in the Electrical & Control Engineering department- who is an expert in solar energy field in both academic and industrial levels.

➢ 20 July 2021: BE POSITIVE Campaign organized by the ENERGY UNIT in AASTMT to give awareness on the importance of reducing energy use in concern of realizing and activating sustainable developments goals.

       
     

 

➢ 15 February 2021: Announcing the foundation of NET ZERO Emission Community to spread green energy awareness and encourages energy conservation initiatives.

             

➢10 February 2020: AASTIANS go Green Campaign at AASTMT Smart Village Campus

Within the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) social responsibility, as well as, AASTMT and the Egyptian Ministry of Local Development a Protocol Of Cooperation on organizing the planning and implementation of the campaign AASTMT Green that was held on Wednesday 21- 1- 2020, the activities of AASTIANS go Green campaign has been started on Monday 10- 2- 2020, at AASTMT Smart Village Campus, in the presence of H.E Prof. Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghafar Ismail - AASTMT President, Prof. Dr. Mona Fouad - AASTMT Smart Village Campus Academic Dean, and Prof. Dr. Enas Barsoum - Advisor to AASTMT President for Student Affairs.
